Boston Banks Urban Renewal Group program boundaries are drawn.
August 15, 1968
Suffolk Franklin Savings Bank vice president Carl Ericson draws the boundaries on a map at a meeting at the Boston Five Cents Savings Bank. According to one account, Ericson uses a red ballpoint pen; according to another, he uses a yellow marker. The subsequent boundaries encompass an area that is centered around the largely Jewish neighborhood of Mattapan. The boundary line follows Walk Hill Street, past Wellington Hill and across Blue Hill Avenue, then turns north at Norfolk Street past Morton Street and Woodrow Avenue to Franklin Field, then curves east along Harvard Street, crossing Blue Hill Avenue again to Boston State Hospital.
